Course Overview

This course, in combination with the subsequent semester course, is designed to help students achieve appropriate advanced placement and/or credit into the sequence of calculus courses offered at the college level. It will also prepare students for the AP Calculus AB exam given in May of each year. Topics covered include fractions, graphs and limits, derivatives, and integrals.

The course is designed for high-school seniors.

Prerequisite

Two years of algebra, one year of geometry, and one year of precalculus that includes trigonometry.

Required Materials

High speed Internet connection (strongly recommended), graphing calculator (TI-89 strongly recommended), and access to a scanner (to submit work electronically).

The following textbook is required for this course:

Ron Larson, Robert Hostetler, and Bruce Edward. Calculus of a Single Variable. Seventh Edition. Houghton Mifflin, 2002.  ISBN 0-618-14916-3

Current Students

If you have already created a Guest Account and have previously enrolled yourself in the Genius Tutorial, review your course selections below, check the checkbox in the Checkout section, then complete your enrollment.

First Time Students

Before you enroll in your first Course, you'll need to complete the following steps. These steps are only required the first time you enroll in an IUHS course.

Step 1: Create a Guest Account.

This account will be used to log into Canvas for your courses, as well as Genius, the McGeorge student information system. The student's legal name must be used when creating the account, not that of the parent/legal guardian. Once you create an account, follow the instructions in the account activation email.

CREATE A GUEST ACCOUNT

 

Step 2: Enroll in the Genius Tutorial course.

Click the button below, then use your guest account username and password to login to Canvas. Once you have logged in, click Enroll and then click Go to the Course to see the tutorial.

Warning: your course will not become available to you until you have enrolled in this tutorial.
